Taiwan’s 22nd Comic Book Expo opened on Thursday at the Taipei World Trade Center with a record-high number of exhibitors, booths, and stage events. Organizer China Anime and Comic Publishing Association estimates the number of visitors will exceed 600,000 with sales and other business reaching an estimated NT$250 million.
This year’s event combines the Taipei Game Show and the Taipei Toy Festival. In addition to about 1,200 booths and 125 exhibitors, voice actors, artists, celebrities, vtubers, and others will make appearances and meet with fans.
The highlight of the event was the appearance of Travis Japan, an up-and-coming Japanese boy band, whose seven members made their Taiwan debut on the opening day. Takuya Eguchi, who voices Loid Folger in the popular SPY×FAMILY show, and Yuki Kaji, who plays Eren Yeager of Attack on Titan, will also be at the comic expo to see their followers. The youngest winner of the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize Uoto and Chan Mou (陳某), the artist of the famous manga The Ravages of Time, will be present for autograph sessions as well.
The comic exhibition is open from 10 AM to 6 PM daily until July 31.
