A trio of A/NZ-based Deloitte employees have received 2023 Asia Pacific Women in Technology awards, issued by the firm to its most innovative and impactful women working in the technology segment.
Professional services firm Deloitte has announced its Asia Pacific Women in Technology winners for 2023, with 3 of the 12 awardees hailing from Australia and New Zealand: Eva Songrui Zhang, Katherine Moffat and Amanda Williamson.
The recipients were selected from the 1,200 nominations received from across the region, which further includes its member firms in India, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, South Korea and Taiwan.
Now into its second year, the awards celebrate the professional services firm’s most innovative and impactful female employees working in the tech segment across eight categories, including for technical excellence, disruption, and industry impact. Deloitte said that its commitment to attracting and engaging talented women in the tech field has continued to grow with the firm increasingly leveraging technology to meet its client needs.
“Our award winners are helping to break down barriers by inspiring other women to consider a career in technology, a sector that has traditionally been underrepresented by women,” commented Deloitte Asia Pacific CEO David Hill. “Our hope is that these awards, our exceptional winners, and their inspiring stories will ignite a passion in many more women to explore the unbridled opportunities a technology career offers at Deloitte and beyond.”
The award for technical excellence this year went to Melbourne-based data science & analytic solutions senior manager Eva Songrui Zhang, who has been with the firm for the past six years, while the rising star award was given to office colleague Katherine Moffat. Moffat joined Deloitte as a graduate analyst in March, after having completed an earlier summer internship while undertaking a software engineering and commerce degree at Monash.
Across in New Zealand, the firm’s recently appointed national generative AI lead Amanda Williamson – who holds an AI-focused doctorate from the University of Sheffield – has been recognised in the Disruptive WiT category. Williamson has been with Deloitte for the past eighteen months after crossing from an engagement director role with an entrepreneurship academic journal, and in addition to Deloitte is a senior lecturer at the University of Waikato.
The trio follow in the footsteps of last year’s A/NZ region winners; Data & AI manager Michela Benedetti, also of Deloitte’s Melbourne office (for Innovation); senior health advisory analyst Lyn Shi in Sydney (Rising Star); Wellington-based director Eva Sherwood (Community Impact); and Carla Casamayor, a senior integration lead in Auckland (Technical Excellence). The recently departed Kanika Mehra was also awarded for technical excellence.
