Harris says North Korea military support for Russia would be ‘huge mistake’
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said on Thursday it would be a “huge mistake” for North Korea to exchange military support with Russia for use in Ukraine, while a top former U.S. intelligence official said there would likely be limits to what Pyongyang would get in return. U.S. officials have warned in recent days that arms negotiations between Russia and North Korea are actively advancing, and a report this week said that North Korea’s Kim Jong Un plans to travel to Russia this month to meet President Vladimir Putin and discuss supplying Moscow with weapons for its war effort. Harris, who was in Indonesia for an ASEAN summit, told CBS News in an interview broadcast on Thursday that it would be a sign of desperation for Russia to seek aid from reclusive North Korea and it would further isolate both countries.

Nikki Haley’s 2024 White House bid charts hazardous path in isolationist Republican Party
U.S. 2024 Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley wants to send special forces to Mexico to wipe out drug cartels, double down on sending weapons to Ukraine and make sure China understands “there will be hell to pay” if it attacks Taiwan. The former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is stubbornly bucking traditional political wisdom that foreign policy does not influence American voters in elections. Despite opinion polls for the Republican nomination putting Haley in single digits, she is still singularly focused on winning over voters, in large part by pushing her foreign policy vision in a party where isolationism has increasingly taken hold.

QUEBEC — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says he wants to give Canadians hope for a better future. But for his party’s grassroots at the Conservative policy convention in Quebec City Thursday, Poilievre was filling them with the hope of winning back power.
