Army base in Hsinchu County to hold open house on Sunday – Focus Taiwan Feedzy

 

Taipei, Sept. 22 (CNA) The Army’s Hukou Base in Hsinchu County held a preview for students on Thursday of the military equipment and air shows featuring fighter jets and helicopters that visitors can expect to see at an “open house” the base is holding on Sunday.

Highlights of the event, which has not been held for nine years at the base in Hsinchu, include the demonstration of AH-64 Apache helicopters and the public debut of newly acquired Indian Challenger motorcycles, military officials said during Thursday’s preview.

Sunday’s air shows will also feature several types of military helicopters, such as the UH-60Ms and AH-1 Super Cobras, along with CM-11 battle tanks and CM-32 armored vehicles on the ground, according to the officials.

The Armed Forces will offer free bus rides between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday to bring visitors to the base from seven locations in the area, including the Hukou and Xinfeng railway stations and Taiwan High Speed Rail’s Hsinchu Station.

The service will also be available from Minghsin University of Science and Technology in Xinfeng Township and China University of Technology, the Chang’an military base and Fongshan Industrial Park in Hukou Township, according to the Ministry of National Defense.

Visitors need to bring their identity card, driver’s license or national health insurance card, while foreign spouses or caregivers have to bring their alien resident certificate and be accompanied by a Taiwanese spouse or citizen in their care, the ministry said.

The ministry expected a total of 100,000 visitors to attend the free event that will take place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
