Ex-President Ma to visit U.S., meet with Taiwan’s top U.S. envoy – Focus Taiwan Feedzy

 

Taipei, Oct. 15 (CNA) Former Republic of China (Taiwan) President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) departed for a trip to the United States on Sunday, where he plans to deliver a speech at New York University, meet with scholars from two Washington-based think tanks and attend a banquet hosted by Taiwanese representative to the U.S. Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Ma’s office said in a press release.

In addition to NYU, Ma will also lead a delegation of Taiwanese students from the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation’s Dajiu Academy to visit the U.S. non-governmental National Committee on United States – China Relations in New York.

During the U.S. visit, they will also meet with Brookings Institution andHeritage Foundation scholars for forums in Washington, as well as meet members of the Committee of 100, a non-profit U.S. leadership organization composed of American citizens of Chinese descent, and visit the New York headquarters of World Journal, the largest Chinese language newspaper in the U.S..

In addition, Hsiao will hold a dinner banquet in his honor at Twin Oaks in Washington D.C.
