Annual Cardiff Greek Festival coming up

Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church puts on its 43rd annual Cardiff Greek Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 9 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept 10 on the grounds of the church, 3459 Manchester Ave. Highlights include Greek cuisine from roasted lamb to feta fries and spinach pie along with music from Southern California Greek band The Olympians and folk dancing. The San Diego Botanic Garden will put on The Garden Party annual fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 to support conservation and education programs. The event will honor Ruth Kobayashi, who has been breeding flowers for three decades and will be recognized with the 2023 Paul Ecke Jr. Award of Excellence. Surf event to be held for blind community members

The Encinitas Lions Club is looking for volunteers to help at its 26th annual surfing event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 10 for the blind and visually impaired members of the community at Cardiff State Beach. The club is partnering with Urban Surf 4 Kids to give an in-water surf experience for participants. Grape Day Festival coming up

The Grape Day Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at Grape Day Park, 321 N. Broadway. The event celebrates the history of Escondido and its agricultural heritage. Gallery holds 20th anniversary show

Distinction Gallery holds a 20 Year Anniversary Show featuring works by 20 artists from around the world. Graphic novelist to speak at library

AquaFest pool party geared to families

‘Globe and Anchor Salute’ to honor Vietnam veterans

The Marine Corps Recruit Depot Museum Foundation’s annual fundraising event, the “Globe and Anchor Salute,” will honor Vietnam War-era veterans and starts at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Bayview Restaurant and Event Center aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego. A Mission Trails Regional Park guide will lead a nature walk from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Sept. 9 with information on the plants, animals, geology, history and ecology of the park. Model A Ford club to hold meeting

The Palomar Model A Ford club will hold its monthly membership meeting to discuss upcoming tours, technical advice and more at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Palomar Estates East Clubhouse, 650 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. Refreshments and socializing will follow the program. Local day tours are typically scheduled for the Saturday following the meeting, departing from the clubhouse. Senior center holds open houseThe Solana Beach Community Senior Center holds an Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6 inside Debin Hall at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, 120 Stevens Ave. Highlights include senior-related vendors, door prizes, entertainment by the Rhapsody Singers and a free lunch. Concert benefits Maui Food Bank

Hawaiian singer, songwriter and musician Anuhea is performing at 8 p.m. Sept. 8 at Harrah’s Resort Southern California. Tickets start at $26.50 and for every ticket sold, the resort will give $2 to the Maui Food Bank. Harrah’s Resort has also created a special cocktail dubbed the Maui Strong and for every cocktail sold through Oct. 22, $1 will be be donated to the Maui Food Bank.
