Meta Verified expands coverage to Taiwan content creators – Focus Taiwan Feedzy

Taipei, July 13 (CNA) The Meta Verified bundle is now available to Taiwanese Facebook and Instagram content creators, Meta Platforms, Inc. announced Thursday.

Recognized with a signature check mark embedded inside a badge, the authentication symbol for Meta’s two most popular social media brands now covers Taiwanese content creators, the company announced via a press statement Thursday.

Meta first rolled out the service in Australia and New Zealand in February this year before making it available to users in the United States in March.

Since then, the coverage has extended to the United Kingdom and is now to Taiwanese creators.

Meta said the verification function is a monthly subscription service costing NT$455 (US$14.99) a month.

Each subscription only covers one creator account, meaning that if a content creator is on both platforms, creators will then have to sign up for two authentication subscriptions per month.

Moreover, accounts will still need to undergo detailed scrutiny from Meta’s security experts and provide paperwork such as a government-recognized document before a Meta verification would be issued, the company said.

Previously, Meta’s verification service was only exclusively available for free to named brands and famous celebrities so that the account holders or managers may interact with fans.

The authentication also safeguards followers from impersonators and scammers.

Meta said through the paid verification service, grassroots content creators such as influencers and Youtubers who are above the age of 18 may also have the authentication of their accounts recognized.

As the paid Meta Verified bundle also includes account impersonation protection, exclusive stickers, expanded reach and access to real-life support agents on top of the verification badge, the company said that celebrities and brands who already have a free checkmark may also upgrade their accounts to a paid bundle to receive more benefits.
