Mu-Lan Montanaro Obituary – Times Record News Feedzy

 

Mu-Lan Feng Montanaro was born in Hsinchu City, Taiwan ROC on March 2, 1950, to Chinese parents Huang Pin Feng and Chin-Chia Kung. Mu-Lan passed away July 13, 2023, after a 21month long battle with cancer.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2023 at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma with Rev. Tim Franks officiating.

Mu-Lan graduated from Kun Shan Senior High School in 1970, then went on to work from 1971 to 1978 for Missionaries Dr. Don Nichols and his wife Margot, working with young Polio Patients. Mu-Lan received diplomas in Missionary Leadership Training for Youth, Youth Evangelism Bible Teaching, Suicide Prevention and was a Christian Youth Summer and Winter Camp volunteer. She became a Christian during her time working as a missionary for Dr. Nichols and his wife, accepting Jesus as her Savior. In 1978 she went to work at a Christian Book Store until 1983, then she went to work at the Taichung City VA Hospital until 1988.

In 1987 a girlfriend set her up on a blind date to meet the future love of her life; Frank Montanaro. After a year of playing hard to get, she finally took a chance and in July of 1988 Mu-Lan traveled to Great Falls, Montana, where she married Frank and started the process of become an American Citizen. After surviving a few twenty below zero-degree winters, Frank and Mu-Lan left Montana and moved to Iowa Park, Texas. Together they bought a 58-acre farm where they gardened and raised various animals for the next 34 years. Frank and Mu-Lan attended Northside Baptist Church for many years. After Frank’s passing, Mu-Lan became a member of Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park.

Mu-Lan was a youth Bible School Teacher as well as teaching youth Sunday School Classes. She also belonged to several bible study groups. Mu-Lan was known for her devotion to the Lord, her husband and family of friends. Mu-Lan was thoughtful, kind, joyful and dedicated. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Mu-Lan was proceeded in death by her parents and stepbrother Shih Xiong Chu and also her loving husband of 34 years, Lt Col. Frank L. Montanaro.

Mu-Lan leaves behind a stepsister Shih Yu Chu of California and stepbrother Shih Hsiung Chu of Taiwan, and an uncle Stephen Kung of Canada. One step daughter Celeste G. Montanaro Wood and husband Mike of Wichita Falls, Tx and one stepson Julian F. Montanaro and wife Karen of Staten Island, NY.
