Riot Games has unveiled its newest virtual boyband for the popular game League of Legends called Heartsteel. The band consists of six members, each representing different characters from the game. The announcement was made on the official League of Legends Twitter account.
One of the main highlights of Heartsteel is that K-pop idol Baekhyun of EXO will be voicing the character Ezreal. Baekhyun is a well-known figure in the K-pop industry, and his involvement in the band is expected to bring even more attention to Heartsteel.
The other members of Heartsteel include Taiwanese-American rapper ØZI as Sett, Nigerian singer Tobi Lou as K’Sante, and American musician Cal Scruby as Kayn. The remaining two members, Aphelios and Yone, will take on the roles of songwriter and producer, respectively.
Heartsteel’s debut single, titled ‘Paranoia,’ is set to release on October 23 at 8am PT. Fans can already pre-save the track on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
Maria Egan, Riot Games Entertainment’s Global Head of Music & Events, expressed her excitement about Heartsteel, stating that Riot’s virtual artists have always been innovative and loved by players. She emphasized that the idea of an all-male band had long been speculated by fans, and the team was thrilled to bring this fantasy to life.
Heartsteel is the fourth virtual group created by Riot Games using characters from League of Legends. Previous groups include the heavy metal band Pentakill, the K-pop girl group K/DA, and the hip hop collective True Damage. Both K/DA and True Damage have featured vocals from K-pop idol Soyeon of (G)I-DLE.
In addition to Heartsteel, Riot Games also collaborated with K-pop girl group NewJeans for the anthem of the 2023 League of Legends World Championship called ‘Gods’.
With the announcement of Heartsteel, League of Legends fans can look forward to enjoying a new musical and visual experience within the game.
