Beijing/Washington DC: Chinese President Xi Jinping has already warned US President Joe Biden about China’s plans for Taiwan. As per reports, the Chinese President told Biden that Taiwan would be reunited with Mainland China at the summit in San Francisco last month.

The two leaders met at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in San Francisco for the first time since the G20 Summit 2022 in Bali. The meeting comes against the backdrop of turbulent ties between Washington and Beijing.

Reports have now surfaced which reveal that Xi told Biden that China’s preference would be to take Taiwan as peacefully as possible and not use any force.

The Chinese President also told Biden about the predictions made by US military leaders to take over Taiwan by 2025 or 2027. Jinping addressed these predictions and stated that the leaders were wrong as China has not set a time frame for the “reunification”.

Chinese officials further revealed that Biden was requested to make a public statement that it supports China’s decision for a peaceful unification with Taiwan, which was promptly rejected by the White House. However, the National Security Council has declined to comment on these revelations.

The US has been supporting Taiwan and its independence since the start of the South China Sea Dispute. US’s support for Taiwan is also a major bone of contention between the two leading countries.

China has been working towards its goal of unifying with Taiwan at the same time Taipei is getting ready to vote for its next government. Taiwanese Presidential Elections will take place on January 13, 2024.
