TAIPEI — Taiwan’s top diplomat said on Friday the island’s foreign policy will remain broadly the same as that under incumbent Tsai Ing-wen should front-runner Lai Ching-te win next month’s presidential election.
“[Lai] has been working in the Tsai administration (as vice president) for four years. He has been in all the high-level meetings, national security meetings, [of] which foreign policy has been a very significant part,” Foreign Minister Joseph Wu told reporters in the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club.
