Over 170,000 fans gathered in Kaohsiung for last weekend’s concert by the famous British band, Coldplay.

Chris Martin, the lead singer of the British band Coldplay, sang together with the whole audience last weekend at the National Kaohsiung Stadium in Southern Taiwan. Paired with dazzling stage and lighting effects, the whole audience clapped their hands in harmony with the rhythm of the music, and the sight of more than 80,000 fans using their light sticks to perform movements in synchronicity with the band provided an amazing sight.

The concert was also attended by a number of Taiwanese celebrities including Miranda Lu, who posted a video of her happily dancing and jumping to the music until she turned all red. Her videos showed how the atmosphere in the stadium was absolutely wonderful.

The stadium was packed to capacity for the two-day concert and attracted over 170,000 fans, setting a new high for the venue. Despite the heavy traffic and overcrowded transportation system last weekend, Kaohsiung shop owners happily worked overtime to cater to the crowds. Last weekend’s concertgoers were said to have brought in an estimated tourism revenue exceeding NT$3.3 billion (US$ 100 million) to Kaohsiung.

Looks like Coldplay’s ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour not only provided music for the soul to concertgoers but it also hit all the right notes for the people of Kaohsiung as well.
