Wanted Vietnamese worker arrested after scooter violation – Focus Taiwan Feedzy

Tainan, July 12 (CNA) Tainan police on Monday inadvertently arrested an undocumented Vietnamese migrant worker suspected of using drugs after spotting him committing a scooter violation.

Police stopped the 30-year-old migrant worker, surnamed Nguy?n (?), at around 7 p.m. in Pingshi Park after seeing him scroll through his mobile phone while riding a scooter, according to a spokesperson at the Tainan City Police Department’s 1st precinct.

They pulled him over, and it was only after they discovered he was wanted and failed a urine test because of the presence of drugs that they arrested him, the police precinct spokesperson told CNA.

According to the precinct, Nguy?n arrived in Taiwan in December 2021 and started working in Changhua, but he left his employer less than a month later, and his employer reported him to the authorities in January 2022.

A warrant was issued for his arrest by the Tainan District Prosecutors Office in June 2023 for his suspected use of drugs, the spokesperson said.
