Xi calls for Patriots to strengthen Taiwans anti-independence campaign – MyIndMakers Feedzy

Chinese President Xi Jinping has issued a call to mobilise “patriots” in Taiwan and overseas to confront pro-independence movements within the self-governing island.

This directive was made during a meeting with the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, a political organisation situated on the mainland and distinct from Taiwan’s primary opposition party. Xi urged the group, aligned with the ruling Communist Party, to unite “all patriots from home and abroad, in and out of Taiwan.”

In response to this, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi underscored the importance of the one-China principle, describing it as the consensus of the international community. He condemned any support for “Taiwan independence,” framing it as a direct challenge to Beijing’s sovereignty.

Wang Yi reiterated Beijing’s commitment to achieving peaceful reunification with Taiwan while staunchly opposing any attempts to sever ties between Taiwan and the mainland. He issued a warning, stating that individuals who advocate for Taiwan’s independence would face severe consequences, likening their actions to “playing with fire” and affirming that they would “get burned” as a result.

These statements from both President Xi Jinping and Foreign Minister Wang Yi reflect China’s firm stance on Taiwan and its determination to maintain territorial integrity. The emphasis on mobilising “patriots” and the warning against supporting Taiwanese independence underscore the seriousness with which Beijing views this issue.
